May 6, 2010 - A new advocacy group, Nevadans for Fair Patent Reform, recently formed to protest Senate Bill 515 and House Resolution 1260. The group's website states that the proposed patent reform legislation, if passed into law, would "negatively impact innovation and entrepreneurial activity in Nevada."
The founders of Nevadans for Fair Patent Reform see small business innovation as the key to economic recovery - both in Nevada and nationally. Like AIPR, the Nevada group contends that larger businesses would gain an unfair advantage over smaller companies and individuals from changes such as the loss of the one-year "grace period" inventors currently have to file a patent application after publication of the invention.
